The Blue Skies Fiddle Orchestra gathered together a dozen of their many members to create a video in the cedar cathedral of the Mississippi River close to the Festival site. They set up 16 mics and shot some video of their recent tunes. They were thrilled to play together for the 1st time in 16 months after having lessons online throughout the pandemic. It gave us much joy and tears. We had a lovely day. The video was edited by their Bass player Brett Hilder.
The Blue Skies Fiddle Orchestra is a vibrant and active group of dedicated musicians aged 8 to 80, who practice weekly at the Maberly Hall under the direction of the amazing Cindy McCall and her assistant Lukas Reynolds. Each Fall a new group of beginners is welcomed and mentored until they are ready to move up to the intermediate and finally the main orchestra. The orchestra has a lending library of excellent quality fiddles that can be rented very reasonably by people who want to join, but don’t yet own an instrument.
